Meeting Minutes

  1. Updates since last meeting - None
  2. Recommendation(s) discussion
    • Question about whether these will be budgeted recommendations; any expectations of budget
    • Local ISD partners (parent outreach) (External reach)
      • Decision to recommend this program at a later date
      • Strategy to reach the nontraditional students (parents)
      • Feels like this is a sub-bullet point under the “Research new target audiences”
      • Is this long-term or to affect Summer/Fall 2021? These are long-term projects.
  3. Research new target audiences (External reach)
    • Focusing more on nontraditional prospective students
    • Possibly start with the Local ISD partnerships
    • The Committee would like to explore new target audiences, but would like to work on the local ISD partnerships first.
  4. Faculty & Staff Engagement program (Internal reach) - Strategy to educate faculty & staff about how to tell our story in the community
    • This is the committee’s first priority recommendation.
    • Committee recommends this program as a strategic, intentional program and sustainable.
    • Idea to create a framework for faculty and staff to utilize in order to connect with students (prospective and when they are current)
    • Possibly pilot with this subcommittee or the SEM Steering committee
    • Discussion on whether it should be voluntary or selected
    • Get faculty council, Administrative Advisory & Staff support Advisory committee involved; Gain buy-in with these groups in order to sustain this project
    • Give participants various levels of commitment and engagement in the project; Committee will create job descriptions for each level and add more as the need arises
      • Level I – Educate on various tools and messaging
      • Level II – Added to list of callers when needed with scripts and having practiced; all saying the same message
      • Level III – Mentor or check-ins with 2-3 prospective students to help encourage them to apply or to assist them with applying and registering; Possibly continue to follow them as current students in order to retain them
    • Committee will research best practices to share with all three levels
    • Responsible parties: MARCOM, Recruiting & SEM to implement it initially; Faculty Council, Administrative Advisory & Support Staff Advisory committee to help maintain the program

    • Action items for committee members, due by March 3
      • Each committee member or pairs of members will write a brief description of their part of the recommendation
        • Becky – how to introduce to campus and promote
        • Karen & Frank – how will be measure success
        • Jen & Londa – Description of introduction (Level I) workshop to introduce project and educate on messaging and resources
        • Dustie, Amanda, and Annette – Mentoring of prospective to current students
        • Lisa – Gather information and write Recommendation for Steering Committee meeting on March 5
